The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg’s Fall 2017 Written/Spoken Series kicks off with nonfiction writer Marissa Landrigan and poet and prose writer Scott Silsbe on Thursday, October 26, at 7 p.m. in the Mary Lou Campana Chapel and Lecture Hall. Science Applied to Art at the Walters Art Museum: Glenn Alan Gates PhD conducts research that synthesizes chemistry and material science with art and cultural heritage. Dr. Gates will visit Pitt-Greensburg's Art & Forensic Analysis (HAA 1005) Course, on Monday, October 16. His presentation is "Science Applied to Art at the Walters Art Mseum." He will focus on forensics and scientific analysis applied to art, addressing questions surrounding authenticity, artists' orginal intent, and conservation. Tickets are still available for the Prog Rock Concert featuring Valdez and District 97 who will perform in Ferguson Theater at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., respectively. An Evening with George Takei at Pitt (Oakland): On Tuesday, October 17,  keynote speaker for Pitt International Week, Takei will discuss his experience being imprisoned in a WWII internment camp for Japanese-Americans, as well as his time on Star Trek, his current social media stardom, and his advocacy for LGBTQ rights and marriage equality. CHINA Town Hall: On behalf of the Asian Studies Center from the University of Pittsburgh, Pitt-Greensburg will host CHINA Town Hall on October 24 at 6:45pm, in Village Hall 118.
