The Community Arts and Reintegration Project (CARP) will host two Community Mural Paint Days for the mural planned in New Kensington. The events will begin at 11 a.m. and run through 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 11. Both sessions will be held at the Voodoo Brewery

Applications are now being accepted for the Vira I. Heinz Program for Women in Global Leadership. Pitt-Greensburg students are encouraged to review the application requirements for this well-respected scholarship program. The Vira I. Heinz Program for Women in Global Leadership program awards a minimum of $5,000 to up to three women at Pitt Greensburg for an international summer experience as part of the comprehensive scholarship program. The deadline to apply is November 1, 2020.

Highlights

Pitt-Greensburg students are invited to participate in a new biweekly program called the Wednesday Workshop Series. This series is being offered in place of the Fall 2020 Leadership Conference in order to provide the opportunity for student learning and development during this global pandemic.

Pitt-Greensburg: La Femme General Meeting will be held October 5. La Femme, a campus club that delves into women's issues, invites students to participate in its general meetings. The meetings are held via Zoom.

Pitt-Greensburg students are invited to sign up and volunteer at the Greensburg Goodwill Store where they will collect and sort donations. This is part of Pitt-Greensburg's annual Fall Into the Streets and Pitt's Civic Action Week.

 

Pitt-Greensburg Fall Into the Streets & Civic Action Week: Special Treasures for the Very Special Prom Pitt-Greensburg will again be collecting gently used formal wear for men and women that will be donated to support the spring 2021 "Very Special Prom" for all those with Autism, Downs Syndrome, and many other cognitive and physical challenges.

Pitt-Greensburg students are invited to volunteer at the Westmoreland County Food Bank where they will assemble emergency food boxes as part of the COVID-19 initiative to help those most at risk. This event is part of the Pitt-Greensburg's Fall Into the Streets and Pitt's Civic Action Week.

Pitt-Greensburg students are invited to volunteer at Animal Friends of Westmoreland as part of Pitt-Greensburg's Fall Into the Streets and Pitt's Civic Action Week. Volunteers will scrub dog kennel walls, floors, outside play yards. They will also clean the cat rooms and bunny area.

Pitt-Greensburg Into the Streets & Civic Action Week: Wildlife Works. Pitt-Greensburg students are invited to volunteer at Wildlife Works where they will do autumn grounds-keeping. This includes raking leaves and picking up debris around the outdoor animal enclosures.

Pitt-Greensburg Into the Streets & Civic Action Week: Slate Creek Clean-up.
Pitt-Greensburg students are invited to volunteer to clean up the banks of our very own Slate Creek that runs through campus. This event, organized by Phi Eta Sigma, the freshman honor society, is part of Pitt-Greensburg's Fall Into the Streets and Pitt's Civic Action Week.

The Pitt-Greensburg Office of Career Services is excited to host the Virtual Graduate and Professional School Fair on October 6, 7, and 8! The fair is FREE and open to the public. Programs and schools with a wide variety of fields of study will be represented, including law, business, information science, healthcare-related programs, and various areas in the liberal arts. Students alumni, and community members interested in continuing education are encouraged to participate in the program/institution information sessions to explore options.

 

Pitt-Greensburg Into the Streets & Civic Action Week: Bell Trail Clean-up As part of Fall Into the Streets and Pitt's Civic Action Week, students are invited to volunteer for the Bell Trail Clean-up project. Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate wot walking and clearing a trail. This nature trail is located on campus.

The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg will host its annual Blue & Gold Celebration Friday, September 25, 2020 through Thursday, October 8, 2020 by going VIRTUAL. Don't miss this fun-filled week of virtual activities!

Visit the fourth annual Art Show at Pitt-Greensburg  online now through October 8.  Vote for your favorite piece through October 5.  Join us on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. for the Artists Awards Virtual Recognition.

 

Take the virtual Stained Glass Tour with artists and alumnus Terry Bengel ’80.  Learn more about the history of stained glass on campus and Terry’s installations like Upward to the Light, which is found in the Millstein Library tower.
 

Pitt-Greensburg Blue & Gold Celebration: Bon Fire & Homecoming Court Pitt-Greensburg students, faculty, and staff are invited to the campus bonfire that has become a traditional part of our Blue & Gold Celebration. Congratulate our Homecoming Court and celebrate with them when the students selected as this year's Royalty are announced.
 

Pitt-Greensburg Blue & Gold Celebration: Founders Day Duck Dash Get ready to burn rubber at the annual Founders Day Duck Dash--part of Blue & Gold Celebration 2020. Student-decorated rubber ducks will once again take to the waves of Slate Run Creek on campus to race for the glory of a spot in campus history.

 

Are you faculty or staff and a Pitt-Greensburg alumnus or alumna?  Join the PGAA and Dr. Gregerson for one of the upcoming Bobcat Block Parties.  When you register, your name will be entered into a drawing for a Pat-Narduzzi signed football or a Jeff Capel- and Lance White-autographed basketball.  Play some University trivia, catch up with fellow alumni, and participate in a chat with Dr. Gregerson.

 

Student, faculty and staff can give blood at the Blue & Gold Blood Drive on Wednesday, October 7.  The event will be held in Smith Hall Lounge from 11 a.m. to  5 p.m. Link to Blue & Gold Blood Drive and enter Blue&Gold to register.
