What Students Can Expect from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act. The University of Pittsburgh will distribute funds to approximately 15,200 students as part of the coronavirus relief package recently passed by Congress, the University announced today. The bill authorized $22.9 billion in COVID-19 relief funding for higher education and includes funding to be distributed directly to students, as well as funds to offset institutional costs caused by the pandemic.

For the 11th consecutive year, the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg has been designated a Military Friendly® School by Victory Media  The Military Friendly® Schools list has come to set the standard for higher education institutions to provide the best opportunities for veterans and their spouses. This prestigious list provides a comprehensive guide for veterans and their families using data sources from federal agencies and proprietary survey information from participating organizations.

Voices: Celebrating the Beauty and Diversity of America’s Literary Landscape will offer its second round of author readings on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 8 p.m. This virtual gathering is hosted by the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and is designed to celebrate the richness of human lives and stories. The event is FREE and open to the public.

ISideWith Political Quiz Event. Want to know where you line up politically? Come join the College Republicans in our "ISideWith" Political Quiz Event. We will be taking the quiz together, with club members there to help with any difficult questions. We will then discuss the results and accuracy of the quiz. The event will be done in person in Village Hall 118 and online over Zoom. Hope to see you there!
 

College Republicans General Meeting. Come join the College Republicans for their general meeting. Come and see what events our club has planned for the future and talk about current events, Everyone is welcome.


Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association (PGAA) Pitt Day of Giving Watch Party. Join the PGAA on the Pitt Day of Giving for a Leaderboard Watch Party from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Zoom!  Cheer on Pitt-Greensburg, play games, and win prizes!
 
Winter Wellnes The Counseling Center and Active Minds will offer a virtual “Winter Wellness” discussion/workshop for the Pitt-Greensburg Student Self-Care Day.  Join us on Zoom where we’ll talk about self-care, the different aspects of wellness, and we’ll offer some brief mindfulness exercises and basic coping skills.
 
Celebrating Self-Care Day Bundle up and join us on the Chambers Hall lawn from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23rd. The University is recognizing the first of its Self-Care Days. There will be no classes on this date. Housing & Residence Life, SAB, SGA, and the Office of Student Involvement are putting together a small, outdoor celebration, complete with a 6-foot tall ice sculpture of the Pitt script logo. Stop by for free coffee, hot chocolate, Bavarian pretzels, and hot cinnamon rolls from the HOT BUNZ food truck.  SAB & SGA will also be giving away free Pitt travel mugs.

Science Club general meetings are on Wednesdays starting at 11:45am.  Please stop into our Zoom room after your 11:50 course.  We do not mind latecomers! Don't forget to register for the link and password to access this virtual meeting.

Pitt-Greensburg Criminal Justice Club will hold it's biweekly meeting on February 24. Discussions are based on current events going on in the world in regards to criminal justice as well as events that we will host in the future.

Spring 2021 Virtual Career + Internship Fair:
Engineering.
Explore internships, full-time opportunities, and part-time opportunities at the Virtual Career + Internship Fair! At the virtual fair, you can connect 1:1 with employers through 10-minute video calls ("sessions") in Handshake. You can also attend group information sessions with multiple students.
 
Pitt-Greensburg IT Career Success The featured speaker at this event is Bill Hoke, a Pitt-Greensburg alumnus and experienced information technology professional. Hoke will be sharing highlights about his career in IT and provide tips for success in the field.

The Pitt-Greensburg Diversity Student Coalition and the Black Student Union present the campus's annual Soul Food Dinner. Enjoy a delicious soul-food-themed meal and take a chance on winning a prize. This year's dinner will honor prominent African American figures who made history during their lifetimes. Special guest and spoken-word artist Ashlee Haze will return for her second visit.

Virtual Professional Impressions: Alumni Relations and Career Services will host this annual event on Thursday, February 25 at 6:30 p.m. EST on Zoom. View the list of participating alumni. Encourage your students to participate and make valuable connections with alumni in their field. Student registration is now open.

Getting to Know PittCat. All are welcome to join us for an overview of PittCat features, including an in-depth look at search functionality and request services. Workshop facilitators will review basic and advanced features of the system, followed by Q&A during multiple sessions in February.

Pitt-Greensburg: Voices--Celebrating the Beauty and Diversity of America's Literary Landscape Join us at Pitt-Greensburg's new reading series,  Voices: Celebrating the Beauty and Diversity of America's Literary Landscape. This FREE virtual event will feature a group of accomplished authors and poets from diverse backgrounds that celebrate the richness of human lives and stories. Pitt-Greensburg student-writers will join these award-winning authors in sharing their work, too.

News of the World  Dr.Lipika Mazumdar invites students to join her in a discussion of the important news of the day. This is an Academic Village LEARNING event.

Join the Film Club for our weekly general meeting! Our club provides an organization for film buffs where we watch and discuss movies, as well as dig into aspects of comedy and filmmaking. If you want to have a say in what movies are shown, consider joining the Film Club. We have both online and in-person options to meet this semester.

The Office of Student Services is accepting nominations for the Pitt Greensburg Senior of the Year Award.  The Senior of the Year Award is open to all graduating seniors who have graduated or will be graduating in the 2020-2021 academic year.  This prestigious award is designed to honor a student who has demonstrated progressive leadership roles and academic excellence.  It is a respected tradition on our campus. The award recipient will be selected from the nominations by a committee comprised of faculty, staff, and students


Creative Writing Club Join the group to read each other's writing material, provide and receive supportive and critical feedback! The club also analyzes literature ranging from narrative to poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. Questions on the technical structure and proper usage of grammar, punctuation, etc. are acknowledged for later scheduled lectures.

Pitt Day in Harrisburg will be coming to you VIRTUALLY!

Join fellow Pitt students, faculty, staff and alumni on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from across the Commonwealth starting at 9:30 a.m. to meet with members of the General Assembly via your desktop, laptop, or smartphone.

This is an opportunity for your voice to be heard and to give legislators a first-hand perspective of the challenges and changes facing public higher education, virtually tour the capitol, and more during this one day VIRTUAL event..

Commencement 2021

As we look hopefully towards the spring and summer of 2021 and a return to normal activities, a variety of ways to recognize our graduates are in development.  

Although it is too early to have details available, we would encourage students and families to visit the Commencement 2021 webpage for information, as well as continue to monitor Pitt-Greensburg's COVID-19 webpage for updates. 

Should an in-person celebration be possible, it would be held the weekend of April 30-May 2

Help us celebrate our alumni and their successes and accomplishments by nominating them for the 2021 PGAA Alumni Awards. Self- and third-party nominations are currently being accepted for the following awards:

Nominations will be accepted through Monday, July 5, 2021. The recipients will be recognized at the Alumni Awards Celebration Dinner during the Blue & Gold Celebration.
