Blue & Gold Celebration 2021

Join the Celebration!!

The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg will host its annual Blue & Gold Celebration Monday, September 27, 2021 through Friday, October 8, 2021. We are planning to celebrate in-person.  Don't miss this fun-filled week of activities!

Campus-wide fun with something for everyone!

Pitt-Greensburg Women's Volleyball Game & Alumni Volleyball Game: As part of Blue & Gold Celebration 2021, the Pitt-Greensburg women's volleyball team will take on LaRoche University at 7 p.m. in Chambers Hall Gymnasium. Come cheer the Bobcats on when they take on the Redhawks in Division III competition.

The Art Show @Pitt-Greensburg is open and showcasing the talent and creativity of s
tudents, faculty, staff, & alumni, as well as friends of the University. Awards will be given for the top three fan favorites and judges’ picks. Stop by Millstein Library during regular business hours from Sept. 27 through Oct. 7 and vote for your favorites. An artists reception will be held Oct. 8 at 6 p.m.

Blue & Gold American Red Cross Blood Drive: As part of its Blue & Gold Celebration, Pitt-Greensburg will host a blood drive for the American Red Cross. This event is only open to students, faculty, and staff of the Pitt-Greensburg campus. Registration is required.

The 22nd Annual Pitt-Greensburg Golf Outing will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 at the prestigious Latrobe Country Club. This years event will benefit Pitt-Greensburg Athletics, Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Associations (PGAA)  and Tech for the Future.

Blue & Gold Celebration Bonfire: The campus community is invited to gather on campus for the annual bonfire. The Pitt-Greensburg Homecoming Court will be introduced at this event that is part of the kick-off to our celebration. Come and grab a cup of hot chocolate, toast some marshmallows, and congratulate this year's Homecoming Court.

Class of 2020 Celebration: Members of the Class of 2020 and their families are invited to participate in the Class of 2020 Celebration that is part of our Blue & Gold Celebration. This special Commencement ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Chambers Gymnasium.

Blue & Gold Celebration Scavenger Hunt! We've added a brand NEW EVENT to our Blue & Gold Celebration line-up: a Scavenger Hunt! Test your knowledge of all things Pitt-Greensburg and win great prizes with a team scavenger hunt during the Blue & Gold Festival on Saturday, October 2. Clues will be found on campus. Register your team of four in advance by October 1 or at the Registration Tent during Blue & Gold Festival and take your chance at winning some great prizes!.

Alumni Welcome Back Picnic, is back as a popular part of our annual Blue & Gold Celebration and will be held in the Alumni Pavillion. This year's event will feature a special Champagne Toast to celebrate the Class of 2020. Also expected back are alumni of the Pitt-Greensburg softball team, as well as alumni who were Criminal Justice majors and CJ Club members.

Blue & Gold Celebration Festival: Join us at our traditional Blue & Gold Festival. Play games, win prizes, enjoy refreshments as you visit with friends and alumni. 

Blue & Gold Celebration Hospitality Tent: Make sure to stop by the Hospitality Tent where you can sign up for our prize drawings occurring throughout the day. Here's your chance to win great Pitt SWAG! Can't make it back for the in-person Blue & Gold Celebration 2021? You can still participate. This year, the Hospitality Tent Virtual Raffle will again be held--your chance to win cool Pitt SWAG!

Blue & Gold Celebration, PGAA Alumni Awards Dinner: The Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association (PGAA) will celebrate 20 years of alumni success at this year's Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association (PGAA) Award Dinner. The PGAA will present the Alumnus of Distinction Award to Huong Vo '14, the Volunteer Excellence Award to Christopher Luccy, DMD, '70 and the late Barbara Luccy, RN, '70, and the Young Alumni Leadership Award to Justin Cannalley ' 15. Members of the Class of 2020 and their guests are invited to attend.

Blue & Gold Celebration Casino Night: Another Blue & Gold Celebration tradition continues when Casino Night returns to the Chambers Hall Gymnasium. Our celebrity dealers will bring you luck as you play the various games. Enjoy the refreshments and win prizes!

Blue & Gold Celebration: PGAA Virtual Happy Hour: The PGAA Virtual Happy Hour is a great way for our alumni to participate in the Blue & Gold Celebration. A great event for those who live further away from campus, the PGAA invites ALL of our alumni to stop in the virtual room and catch up with classmates. Registration is required.

Blue & Gold Celebration Duck Dash: Student- and community-decorated rubber ducks will once again take to the waves of Slate Run Creek on campus for this year's Duck Dash, part of the Blue & Gold Celebration. The ducks will race for the glory of a spot in campus history!

The Blue & Gold Blood Drive returns. Check the schedule of events for the annual Festival, Duck Race, Hospitality Raffle, and Alumni Events! Check event times and registration information.

Unless public health guidance changes, we are planning for the events to be held in-person and on campus.

Justin Cannalley ’15 to receive PGAA Young Alumni Leadership Award: The Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association (PGAA) will present its Young Alumni Leadership Award to Justin Cannalley ’15 at the Alumni Award Celebration Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 2, as part of Blue & Gold Celebration 2021.

The Pitt-Greensburg PGAA Volunteer Excellence award will recognize Christopher J. Luccy, DMD, ’70, and posthumously to his wife, Barbara B. Luccy, RN, ’70 for their commitment to Pitt-Greensburg. The Volunteer Excellence awards will be presented as part of the Alumni Celebration Dinner planned for Saturday, Oct. 2, in the Hempfield Room at Pitt-Greensburg during the annual Blue & Gold Celebration.

Money Moves: Budgeting & Saving: Hail to Pitt! Hail to Earning Money and Keeping It! Online shopping, mall runs, and impromptu spending. It’s very easy to overspend when you do not have a plan. Join the Financial Wellness Program for tips on building a budget and sticking to it for your financial and overall well-being.

Fall Virtual Career + Internship Fair: Engineering: Registration is now open for this event is scheduled for September 29 2021.Explore internship and full- and part-time employment opportunities. Virtually meet with representatives from local, regional, and national nonprofits, corporations, and government agencies. Earn OCC credit.

Pitt-Greensburg Admissions Virtual Nursing Session. During this one-hour virtual session, you will hear from our Director of Nursing, Marie A. Fioravanti, DNP, RN, and our admissions team. This online Zoom session will provide an overview of the Pitt Nursing program, learn about gaining clinical experience, and the job outlook. This information session is offered to all students. Registration is required.

Pitt-Greensburg Flu-Shot Clinic for Faculty & Staff: Pitt-Greensburg faculty and staff are invited to participate in the Flu Clinic to be held on campus Friday, Oct. 1, from 7:30 a.m to noon in Village Hall. Sign-up link for appointments, consent form, and vaccine information statement all were included in an email that was distributed Sept. 16 to faculty and staff @pitt email addresses. Please register for a time slot, and please bring your completed and signed vaccine consent form with you to the clinic.

Fall Virtual Career + Internship Fair: Computing & Information: Explore internship and full- and part-time employment opportunities. Virtually meet with representatives from local, regional, and national nonprofits, corporations, and government agencies. Register, schedule virtual one-to-one meetings or group sessions with employers, and  "follow" the employers with whom you would like to meet.

Growth Through Knowledge and Understanding--Environmental Justice: Pitt-Greensburg and the Westmoreland County Diversity Coalition are again partnering to bring awareness to an important topic through their series, Growth through Knowledge & Understanding. This year, they will explore the topic of Environmental Justice. All talks are scheduled to begin at 7pm and will last for approximately 45-60 minutes. The talks will be available online. Each will be FREE and open to the public with multiple dates planned throughout the semester. Registration is required.

Virtual International Speed Friending: Whether you’re an international student at Pitt looking to make American friends or a native speaker of English interested in meeting people from different cultures, this FREE virtual event hosted by the English Language Institute on the Pittsburgh campus in collaboration with Pitt Bradford and Pitt Greensburg is perfect for you! If you’ve ever heard of “Speed Dating,” this is similar. The only difference is that the objective here is to make friends.

Education Resources Workshop: Looking for background information for an assignment, or doing research for a thesis or dissertation?  Need help finding sources?  This one-hour webinar will focus on the best resources for Education research and show how to get full-text content.  This session is geared for all Education students, with special attention to services and features for those writing their thesis or dissertation. Registration is required.


American Rescue Plan (ARP) Emergency Fund

 

Pitt-Greensburg students: You may be eligible for a one-time grant award through the University of Pittsburgh from the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Emergency Fund--but you MUST apply! Please check you @Pitt email account for recent emails from the Pitt Office of Financial Aid. If you received this email, you are eligible to apply for funding that can be applied to unexpected expenses associated with the coronavirus pandemic. These grant awards range from $600 to $7,500 for eligible students and can be applied to your outstanding Pitt balance. The deadline for making application is September 30 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
